Our virtue of the month is Courage
COURAGE: We always do what we know to be right despite fear, hardship, and opposition. We resist negative peer pressure, defend our rights and the rights of others, and encourage others to do the same. OVERCOME STRUGGLE WITH HEART!
Practice: PLEASE HELP YOUR SCHOLARS KEEP THEIR ROUTINE OF READING EVERYNIGHT AND BEING PREPARED FOR LEARNING. Please have your scholars practice writing their name, number, and date to help with labeling their assignments. Please have your scholars practice reciting their poems in front of you to help build confidence in standing in front of their peers and delivering their best. WE ARE SENDING BOOK BAGS HOME EVERY WEEK SO THAT YOUR SCHOLAR MAY CONTINUE TO PRACTICE READING AND BUILD THEIR COMPREHENSION SKILLS. THEY NEED TO BE RETURNED EVERYDAY!

This week we will learn 4 new phonograms: aw, au, or and ck. Scholars will be assessed in written form of 10 phonograms on Friday. Please review their pre-assessment on Wednesday to assess where your scholar needs extra support. Scholars will learn and review 5 words a week and be assessed on them on Friday. This week they will learn: me, do, and, go, at. Scholars will continue to bring home their book bag. It is important that they read it daily with an adult. Scholars are being graded on homework with a focus on correct completion, penmanship, and overall neatness. In grammar, scholars will continue to learn about different types of sentences, specifically interrogative sentences.
Science/History: In Science, our scholars will continue their unit on Texas Animals and will review the final three out of six animals: the opossum, deer, and skunk. Scholars will learn about their habitat and their necessities required to survive. Scholars will finish the unit with a Texas Animal Assessment.
Literature: We have the joy of reading the wonderful story of The Gingerbread Man. As we dissect different parts of the story, we will learn more about actions verbs, and how to make predictions in reference to visual aids.
