Dear Kindergarten Families,

We have begun another wonderful week of learning. The virtue of the month is RESPONSIBILITY.

Responsibility: We accept obligations related to our own good and the good of others, and we act on those obligations in a manner suitable to their timely and satisfactory fulfilment. We are willingly accountable for what we do and say, and we seek to learn from our mistakes. OWN YOUR ACTIONS

The week ahead:

Spalding: Scholars will continue learning phonograms (f,g,s,qu) while reviewing the phonograms learned in the week prior (0,c,a,d). Scholars will practice writing their phonograms and review top line, Mid point, and baseline using Spalding paper. Please have scholars use the correct pencil grip at home.

Literature: This week our students will be learning the poems Baa, Baa, Black Sheep and continue to practice One, Two, Buckle my shoe. In addition, they will dive into the story Goldilocks and the Three Bears. As we learn about adventure, we will also learn more about characters, and what they are made of.

Math: Now that we have learned and studied the numbers 1-5, we are going to start focusing on writing those numbers. We will continue working on our counting skills and representing numbers through objects in groups. It has been fantastic watching the children realize how easy it is to count things in their daily lives.

Science: This week students will learn about different representations of the earth such as a globe and map. They will learn about the characteristics of each , who was the first cartographer, and how to use a Venn Diagram to compare and contrast a map and globe.
