 Dear Kindergarten Families,

Our scholars are Spartan proud and carrying it well. The virtue of the month is Integrity.

INTEGRITY: We are u individuals of strong ethical values, who make consistently good choices in keeping with our knowledge of right and wrong. We seek the wisdom of others in cases of moral uncertainty. WALK TALL IN TRUTH.

Practice: Please have your scholars practice tucking in their shirts and locating their snack and their lunch box. Please have your scholars practice writing their name, number, and date to help with labeling their assignments. Please have your scholars practice reciting their poems in front of you to help build confidence in standing in front of their peers and delivering their best. HOMEWORK PLEASE HAVE YOUR SCHOLARS COMPLETE THEIR HOMEWORK EVERYDAY!

The week ahead:

SPALDING: Scholars will review the phonograms learned in the weeks prior: (o,c,a,d,f,g,s,qu,b,e,h,i,u,j,k,l,m,n,p,r,t,v,w,x,y,z). Next week will begin our written phonogram introduction, where scholars will write down the phonogram they hear. Scholars will be assessed on all of the written phonograms  In grammar, scholars will learn about verbs.  In lyceum, scholars have begun to meet the teacher in groups which has been a very exciting advancement. Scholars who are not with the teacher focus on skills like beginning, middle, and end sounds, rhyming, and letter matching.

Math: This week, the scholars will have the opportunity to show all that they have learned through taking a Cumulative Assessment. We will start to focus on counting numbers in descending and ascending order, and also learning how to fill in the missing number when counting backwards. We will have the opportunity to explore different variations of counting back through multiple games and activities.

Science/History: We will continue our matter unit and will learn specifically about each solid, liquid, and gas throughout the week. We will discover and review the similarities and differences between each. We will also continue our Native American unit and will review the Plateau and Great Basin Regions and the tribes that occupied them.

Literature: It has been so fascinating to learn about all these different folktales. The story that we are reading about this week, is a story of a brave and kind mouse, who receives gifts, and gives them just as quickly as he was given them. This folktale will teach us how to be virtuous while we learn about its characters and main events.
